We regret that our rehearsals have had to be suspended during the Summer due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Please keep an eye on our website for news of when we may be in a position to hold a concert.
MUSICA VERA is an
accomplished, friendly, and welcoming chamber choir, based in Cheltenham, and
founded in 1964 by Graham Smallbone. We have since performed in more than
150 concerts, and have broadcast on BBC Radio 3's "The Choir".
Frequently performing with our associated chamber orchestra, Musica Vera
Camerata, we also occasionally work with other ensembles.
We are known for our innovative programming, for which we have received an
award from Cheltenham Arts Council, and for our enjoyable performances. We
often make use of performance venues' spatial characteristics - with singers
sometimes placed in various locations around the venue in those concerts where
the music will benefits.
We look forward to seeing you at our concerts, and/or to welcoming you as a
singing member!

When life returns to normal
JOIN US
Musica Vera is a friendly chamber choir and new
members are made most welcome!
We rehearse at in Lake House in Cheltenham College Preparatory School on Wednesdays from 7.30pm to
9.30pm.
We normally operate an introductory period for new members of a few weeks to
allow you to decide if you would like to become a permanent member of the
choir.
The choir has a tradition of a good standard of sight reading and, after the
initial period, new members will normally be asked to take part in a short and
simple audition with the Director of Music before their membership is
confirmed. Singers are asked to practise music between rehearsals (the choir
will provide resources to aid learning as appropriate), and are expected to
attend all rehearsals in order to keep our standards high (although we do allow
absences by prior arrangement with the Director of Music).
If you are a keen singer committed to performing to a high standard, we would
very much like to hear from you.
